“Nothing more than a public relations exercise”…….That criticism being levelled by the Canadian Cancer Society to Imperial Tobacco’s legal challenge of New Brunswick’s ban on menthol-flavoured tobacco products.
The Cancer Society charges the legal action has absolutely no merit, pointing out five provinces have such bans in place. They’re aimed at reducing the number of young people who smoke.
According to the Cancer Society, Menthol is the most popular flavour for young people who smoke. Among New Brunswick high school students who still smoke, 52% use flavoured tobacco and 38% smoke menthol.
