New Brunswick’s unemployment rate jumped to 7.9 per cent in November — the third highest in the country.
Statistics Canada says an increase was recorded even though the province added 1,700 jobs.
However, the province’s two largest cities fared much better.
The jobless rate fell to 5.7 per cent in Saint John and 5.2 per cent in Moncton.
Across Canada, the unemployment rate dropped to 5.6 per cent in November — the lowest in more than 40 years — thanks to gains in full-time work, including in the growing cannabis sector.
