The sport of stick curling is gaining popularity across the country and for the first time ever Curl Moncton will host the Maritime Stick curling championship.
It is being held March 14th-16th and 18 teams from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island will compete.
Spokesperson Sherril Minns says it’s a bit different than regular curling, but it is an opportunity for older people to stay in the game, or for younger people to try it for the first time.
Minns says stick curling is similar to standard play, except that players use a stick while standing or sitting down the ice.
The teams will compete for the right to represent New Brunswick at the provincial championships.
