The Office of the Child and Youth Advocate has released its 10th State of the Child report and it highlights the serious challenges facing New Brunswick youth.
Norm Bosse is the advocate and says they have a major concern about immigrant children and inclusion.
” Youth from other countries come in and don’t even have a language, can’t even speak English and they are in school it becomes very difficult for them to operate and live within our society, says Bosse.
Others include having first nations languages preserved, especially when it comes to Maliseet.
Bosse says ” I am quite certain having spoken to some of the First Nation’s communities that the language will be lost if the government doesn’t provide resources so that the first nations communities and government can get together and bring in programs in the school.”
Bosse also wants to see the government do a better job of data collecting which will help them do a better report.
