Four fans seated above the Green Monster at Fenway Park were ejected after unfurling a sign that read "Racism is as American as baseball" during the fourth inning of the game between the Boston Red Sox and Oakland A's. The sign was draped over the top, middle section of the Green Monster and had a black background with white letters.

Matt Olson hit a two-run homer and Jed Lowrie drove in two runs as the A's downed the Red Sox 7-3. The New York Yankees got by Tampa Bay 3-2 to move three games back of Boston in the American League East. The Yankees lead Minnesota by 3 games for the top wild card spot........Cleveland set a new American League record for consecutive wins with 21 in a 5-3 win over Detroit.
