“Rock stars” from all over the world gathering at the Coast Guard site….it’s Sculpture Saint John, where 6 international artists are chipping and sawing away at giant chunks of local granite. The six-week event will produce sculptures to be displayed throughout the province.
Meaghan Barton is a local intern with one of the sculptures. She tells CHSJ News it’s a momentous event for the local arts scene and an honour for her to work so closely with international pros.
The sculptors will be working at the old Coast Guard site throughout the week until September 15th–the worksite is open to the public and tours will be available.
