The results are in…and Romero House is getting the Big Heart Award from the Board of Trade for its work providing hot meals seven days a week to needy people in Saint John.
Romero House founder Carolyn McNulty tells CHSJ News the soup kitchen relies on volunteers and donors to do its work for the past 30 years–and the donations aren’t coming in like they used to, as their long-term donors get older.
McNulty says while the award is great what the soup kitchen really needs is money to help meet its $20,000 per month operating costs. As well, they’re in desperate need of ingredients for soup, warm clothing for winter, and other basics.
Romero House is located on the North end of Prince Edward St., past Prince Edward Square. You can drop of donations in person, or call 642-7447 to make other operations.
They are open 365 days per year:
Mon-Fri 8:00am -4:00pm;
Sat-Sun 9:00am -1:00pm.
