A shortage of skilled works and limits to immigration policies are posing challenges for the Atlantic provinces.
Nova Scotia Premier Stephen McNeil tells CHSJ News his government has been calling on the Feds to increase the cap which currently sits at 600.
He says they need to grow their population and they are concerned about the federal decision on the Foreign Workers Program.
He says in Nova Scotia 75 per cent of their immigration nominees come from this program.
Marshall says Newfoundland and Labrador is currently in throws of a labour shortage.
He says they were working to find ways of getting those with disabilities or on income support back into the workforce.
