By the time the first bell rings this September, a new school flag policy will be in place in New Brunswick.
That’s according to Executive Director of Bullying Canada Rob Frenette who met with David Alward after the Premier turned down a request to fly a rainbow flag at a high school because it was against the Provincial Flag Policy, and called for a review.
Frenette says the Minister’s Advisory Committee on Inclusive Education will come up with a list of flags that schools can fly throughout the year without any issue. He says he will personally make sure this policy is in place by the fall.
He believes this will help LGBTQ youth understand they’re not alone and that both their school and province stands behind them.
