The wife of Constable Douglas Larche, one of the RCMP officers gunned down in Moncton, says they are now beginning the impossible task of honouring his memory and mourning his death.
Constable Larche’s wife, Nadine, says that while everyone ran away and hid from danger, her husband ran towards it without hesistation and gave his life to protect the community.
He joined the RCMP in 2002 and worked in Doaktown before being transferred to the Codiac detachment in 2006. In 2008, he received a commander’s commendation for saving the life of an unconscious baby. Constable Larche had three young daughters, ages 4, 8 and 9, and his wife says they were his little princesses and most precious treasures.
She says honouring her husband’s memory is a celebration of life adding that we must not let fear dictate our future.
Larche, who was 40-years-old, was originally from Saint John.
