The rental vacancy rate has increased in the province to 9.1 per cent thanks to a sluggish job market and the number of people leaving for jobs out west.
The vacancy rate in Saint John in April stood at 10 per cent with a two bedroom apartment renting for 687 dollars on average. The lowest vacancy rate is in Miramichi at 3.4 per cent.
As for the other major cities, the vacancy rate in Moncton is 10.7 per cent with a two bedroom apartment renting for 768 dollars. Fredericton has a vacancy rate of 6.2 per cent and a two bedroom apartment there rents for 790 dollars monthly.
