The Alward Government is expected to release a cultural policy this week but whether that will answer the funding concerns at the New Brunswick Museum remains to be seen.
Millions of dollars have to be spent to bring the Museum’s building on Douglas Avenue, where the collections are stored, up to par so they’re not put at risk.
Saint John Portland M-L-A Trevor Holder is also the provincial Minister responsible for Culture and Heritage. He tells CHSJ News preserving the museum collections is his top priority.
John Irving, who chairs the Museum’s Board of Directors, says the most cost effective plan has been cobbled together and he argues the work has to be initiated now. Irving is urging New Brunswickers to contact their M-L-A’s on the issue.
