It’s World Refugee Day–a good time to think about all the luxuries we take for granted in Canada, like a life free of violence, malnutrition, and preventable disease.
Raghu Osti moved to Canada from Bhutan four years ago with his family as a refugee; in Bhutan, he witnessed all kinds of horrors including the deaths of those around him by violence and illness. He tells us he’s grateful to be here.
Oshti says even though his experience has been amazing, it’s crucial for New Brunswickers who were born here to do more to reach out to refugees and help them feel welcome here.
