Common Councillor Bill Farren taking issue with a statement released by Saint John Energy explaning the departure of former Vice-President of Finance at the utility, Anthony Furness, who’s now facing a second degree felony charge of theft by deception in Utah.
The utility says he was fired in 2005 after financial irregularties were discovered and Farren tells CHSJ News that doesn’t really explain what exactly happened.
The statement goes on to say the utility didn’t experience any permanent financial loss from this situation, which Farren says is very soft language and could be interpreted in a number of ways.
A complaint was made to City Police and a charge was laid but Furness did not show up in court.
Farren says Furness, who left the country before his provincial court hearing, should be extradited to answer for his alleged crimes.
