As expected, John Wilcox, who headed the City Police Major Crime Unit when he retired, has left the Liberals and will run in Rothesay for the NDP against incumbant Ted Flemming.
Wilcox says the state of the provincial economy is the big issue for him as it is for many families in the riding. Two of his sons have had to leave the province in search of work. Wilcox goes so far as to say our way of life is in trouble if things continue as they are.
As for joining the NDP, Wilcox quoted Winston Churchill about leaving a political party to match your principles.
Wilcox ran for the Liberals and came in second in the byelection which saw Flemming replace Margaret Ann Blaney as M-L-A.
