Controversy is raging in Hampton over the decision by longtime Conservative M-L-A Bev Harrison to run for the NDP. Premier David Alward is quoted as saying Harrison is not a team player but that’s not all to the back and forth.
Chris Rendell announced he was running for the NDP nomination in Hampton in late May but had his approval to run revoked on June 25th. The party claims it was unacceptable for Rendell to indicate a like online for a video posted by the Green Party. Rendell, on his Facebook page, says he’s interested in good ideas regardless of their origin.
He’s expressing surprise Harrison would still be interested in the nomination after what Rendell calls the mess Provincial NDP leader Dominic Cardy has made.
It’s expected retired city police officer John Wilcox will be nominated today to run for the NDP in Rothesay. He lost the Liberal nomination to the Principal of Rothesay High, Stephanie Tomilson but then filed a complaint, alleging there had been voting irregularities. His complaint was dismissed by the party.
Wilcox ran for the Liberals in the byelection that saw Conservative Ted Flemming win the riding and replace Margaret Ann Blaney who had been appointed as the C-E-O at Efficiency NB.
