The General Manager of Saint John Industrial Parks says, ideally, construction of a barge terminal in Lorneville at the Spruce Lake Industrial Park will begin when the weather is still warm.
Brian Irving tells CHSJ News the city has all its ducks in a row on this, having set aside money and expressing unanimous support last week.
Irving says the province and federal government aren’t quite there yet. They need formal letters to apply for funding complete with documentation on the economic benefits which are described as being significant.
The Liberal M-L-A for Charlotte-The Isles, Rick Doucet is now voicing his support. The riding he represents will include Lorneville after reconfiguration and be renamed Charlotte-The Isles-Saint John West.
