The Town of St. George is preparing for the worst.
With such high accumiliation of rain forecasted for tonight and tomorrow from Tropical Storm Arthur, the town issuing a notice for people who work or live close to streams to take extreme caution because there could be flooding.
Environment Canada is forecasting anywhere from 100-140 mms of rain by tomorrow night for Charlotte County.
The Town of St. George says levels in the Magaguadavic River and Lake Utopia should allow for significant amounts of rainfall before it becomes critical — and all gates are open at the powerdams to allow maximun drainage.
However, in preperation for flooding or a power outage, residents should have supplies for 72 hours, including gas, propane, drinking water, and non-perishable food items.
Arthur will also bring strong winds gusting up to 70 kms/hour in Charlotte County, so residents are being asked to secure any items outside, such as lawn furniture, so they don’t become potential flying projectiles.
