Hurricane Arthur is tracking northeastward off the US coast but will weaken to a tropical storm by the time it hammers our region.
According to current tracking, the storm system will make landfall in southwestern Nova Scotia and likely result in about 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall in Southern New Brunswick.
According to the latest forecasting, Saint John is expecting anywhere fromĀ 65 millimeters of rain up to 90. Claude Cote of Environment Canada tells CHSJ News the winds on Saturday will be strong but they should fall short of the wind warning criteria.
Cote says the rain will start on Friday but the worst will be felt tomorrow with wind gusts in the Saint Jofhn area up to 80 kilometers an hour kby tomorrow afternon. Winds will be stronger along the southern coast of Nova Scotia and high enough to cause property damage with gusts up to 100 kilometers an hour.
