NB Power continues to respond to damage caused by post-tropical storm Arthur, which is bringing high winds and heavy rain to many parts of New Brunswick.
Because the storm is still in progress, crews are unable to thoroughly the assess damage it is causing to lines and infrastructure.
High winds and dangerous conditions mean our crews are addressing only high priority customers and safety issues at the present time.
When the storm passes, crews will focus on addressing the rest of the outages.
NB Power has approximately 110 line and tree trimming crews available to respond to the storm damage with more scheduled to arrive on Sunday from neighbouring jurisdictions.
While the majority of NB Power customers are expected to be back online within 48 hours, some customers in remote areas should be prepared to be without power until Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.
The greatest number of power outages are in the Fredericton area, where heavy rain combined with extremely strong winds are still blowing large numbers of trees into power lines.
Residents are urged to stay clear of downed lines. Do not attempt to clear broken branches or trees from roadways or property as they could contain hidden power lines.
Please listen to emergency updates from local first responders to remain safe.
Due to high call volumes, NB Power’s contact centre is experiencing longer than usual wait times. If customers get a busy signal, please hang up and try again, but customers are strongly urged to report outages and check restoration progress on NB Power’s mobile site.
