Businesses that depend on tourism are taking a real hit in the aftermath of post tropical storm Arthur.
Howard Heans owns the campground at Harding’s Point and tells CHSJ News the clock is ticking on the first week of the peak camping season which is short enough as it is.
His wharf broke in two during the storm and a lot of debris is floating in the river making it hazardous for boaters.
Heans says he just finished the cleanup from last December’s ice storm in the middle of June and now has to do it all over again.
To top it all off, Heans bought a generator because he couldn’t afford to lose all the food he has in stock in a store he runs for the campers and someone tried, but failed, to steal it the other night when there was no power and it was pitch black. Heans says he told his wife that was the last straw.
