Premier David Alward touching base with Charlotte County today after the devastation of Hurricane Arthur.
Charlotte-Campobello MLA Curtis Malloch tells us Arthur is the worst storm to hit this province ever — leaving approximately half the population without power.
Malloch says they visited with the Oak Bay Fire Department, the St. Stephen Fire Department, SSHS and the Fundy High School, as well as assessing damage in Rollingdam and speaking with residents who are still greatly affected by the after effects of Hurricane Arthur. He says they just wanted to say thank you to the volunteers for everything they have done, and to assure locals they have around 300 power crews on the ground right now trying to get power up and running.
Malloch says he has had a lot of phone calls to his office on getting financial aide for people who have lost things such as groceries.
He says right now they are concentrating on getting the power back on — but will hopefully have something set up soon possibly through Social Development.
