A stubborn fire at 49 Douglas Avenue at Main Street North with firefighters encountering heavy smoke being emitted from the rear of the building when they arrived.
Divisional Chief Mark Wilson says during the course of putting the blaze out, which required additional fire crews to be brought in, two of the firefighters were injured and taken to hospital, one with lacerations to his hand and the other was overcome by heat exhaustion.
Earlier in the day, a three vehicle collision at 999 Loch Lomand Road sent one person to hospital. Two of the vehicles sustained considerable damage and had to be towed.
