As you make your way to the uptown along Garden Street you may notice an election sign on that patch of grass to your right.
It turns out that more than two months before voting day in September, it’s ok to have election signs up.
Paul Harpelle of Elections NB tells CHSJ News parties can spend up to $2000 of what is called pre-election spending or pre-writ spending.
He says it’s up to the individual party’s riding association to decide how that money is spent and it can include advertising.
The sign in question is for People’s Alliance candidate Arthur Watson who is seeking election in Saint John Harbour.
