There have been concerns voiced over the proposal by the provincial NDP for a system of universal daycare in New Brunswick and this has prompted a clarification.
Provincial NDP leader Dominic Cardy believes affordable daycare for all New Brunswick families would provide children with the start they need to do well in school and bring down the province’s unacceptably high rate of illiteracy as well as helping out working families.
The party says the proposal, by no means, would push out private daycares. They would be part of the mix in a hybrid system with the model being what they have in Quebec.
