Federal Transport Minister Lisa Raitt announcing $58 million for three ferries including the Princess of Acadia.
The other ferries are Caribou,NS-Wood Islands, PEI along with a ferry that serves Isles-de-la-Madeleine and Souris P-E-I.
Procurement is ongoing to replace the Princess of Acadia which makes the run between Saint John and Digby. Raitt says they’re working to have that happen next year.
Premier David Alward has announced the Province is contributing $2 million dollars as well.
Politicians from Nova Scotia and PEI are on hand at today’s announcement at the Ferry terminal on the west side.
Saint John MP Rodney Weston says when it comes to the Princess of Acadia, this money creates certainty for businesses that work on both sides of the Bay of Fundy adding now they can plan ahead.
