Paramedics Association President Phil Comeau tells CHSJ News advanced care paramedics are able to administer heart attack or seizure medication instead of waiting until the patient, who’s in medical distress, arrives at the emergency department.
Comeau says to become an advanced care paramedic would require an additional year of training and while they’re being trained here, they’re not being registered in New Brunswick so they move on to other jurisdictions..
