With two historic buildings at 167-173 Prince William slated for demolition, a local restaurateur has been waiting to use his patio again.
Roy Billingsley is the owner of Steamer’s, and he tells CHSJ News the city warned him back in May that his patio could be unsafe due to debris falling from the dilapidated buildings up above. The patio, as a result, hasn`t been used all summer.
Billingsley says it’s definitely effecting his business–a large part of which is usually patio traffic–because there have also been a lot fewer cruise ships, which makes a big difference.
He estimates between a third and a quarter of his business at this time of year usually comes from the patio. The city has issued a call for tenders for the demolition of 167-173 Prince William.
