Folks who try to game the system by filling multiple prescriptions from different doctors may soon be out of luck this fall.
A pharmacy in Grand Falls is the first in the province to be connected to the Electronic Health Record program. The program lets health professionals access lab test results, reports, emergency room visits and hospital admissions. This fall, it will also let pharmacists see how often patients are getting prescriptions for monitored drugs, alerting them to potential misuse. The goal is to have all a patient’s info available in one place.
It’s expected that all pharmacies will be connected to the system in the next two years.
