The well-loved historical landmark, Carter House, on the Kingston Peninsula receiving $37,500 under the Community Cultural Places Program.
Tourism Minister Trevor Holder says there are many areas of the province where old heritage properties need to be restored.
He says the idea is that these properties will be used for an arts development reason such as a boutique or an art gallery.
Glen Baxter of the Kingston Peninsula Heritage Preservation Board says they plan an addition for the back of the building.
He says they will be putting the building back to where it was orginally and it give them needed storage space for artifacts that relate to Carter House.
He says they will also be fixing up a drainage problem at the back.
The crowd at Carter House today got to hear a few songs from the Kingston Peninsula Heritage Choir.
