Things look promising for the Atlantic Potash Corporation and its Millstream deposit just west of Sussex.
An update has been released on whether there’s enough potash to make a mine viable. Atlantic Potash reports a deposit 30 metres thick has been found which is enough to continue exploration which will wind up costing something like 8 million dollars.
The company estimates another 3.6 to 3.8 billion dollars will be needed to bring the mine into commercial operation.
Atlantic Potash wants to build a 350 million dollar fertiliser plant in Saint John.
In the meantime, leaks of salt water from the tailings pond at Cassidy Lake near Norton are being contained and redirected into the Bay of Fundy according to the President of PotashCorp who admits there are a number of tears in the liner.
