NB Power is warning customers of a telephone scam.
The company has received reports of fraudulent telephone calls to customers by individuals presenting themselves as representatives of NB Power.
Individuals are asking customers to make an urgent payment to avoid having their power disconnected.
Customers are advised to never give out personal or financial information over the phone, and if you are in doubt that you are speaking to a Customer Service representative from NB Power, contact the utility toll-free at 1-800-663-6272 or by e-mail at customerservices@nbpower.com.
Customers contacted by individuals making these claims are encouraged to report the incident immediately to their local police force, the RCMP or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca/
