More than 200 people turning up at the Peel Plaza courthouse for jury selection at murder trial of 53 year old Joseph Paul Irving.
He pleaded not guilty to second degree murder in the death of his wife, Cynthia, March 21st of last year at their home on Carmarthen Street. Cynthia worked as a pharmacy technician at the Superstore in Millidgeville.
Irving tried to plead guilty to a charge of manslaughter, which would possibly carry a lighter sentence, but was rejected by the prosecution.
10 days have been scheduled for the trial but the presiding judge, Mr. Justice William Grant says it could last longer than that.
