A man who killed five people in the Miramichi area in the 1980’s has been moved to a regular maximum security prison in Edmonton.
Media reports this morning say that Allan Legere was moved from a Special Handling Unit in Quebec, but that is raising concerns, because it is a reduced level of security.
An author of two books about Legere, Rick McLean says a reliable source confirmed the transfer, but there’s no word on why he was moved. McLean is concerned because Legere has escaped before.
After Legere was sent to prison for the first murder, he escaped in 1989 during a trip to a Moncton hospital for treatment. He killed four more times during that escape and forced a manhunt in the province that lasted over 2 hundred days.
