The man who owned an African rock python which strangled two Campbellton boys has been arrested in Quebec.
After 18 months, Jean-Claude Savoie was arrested in Montreal yesterday but RCMP say they have not yet laid charges against the man.
Savoie used to own Reptile Ocean, an exotic pet store in Campbellton where police later seized more than 25 illegal animals.
Above the pet store housed an apartment which is where four-year-old Noah Barthe and his six-year-old brother Connor both died on August 5, 2013 during a sleepover.
The boys died after being suffocated by an African rock python according to autopsy reports.
A provincial task force to examine the issue led by Magnetic Hill Zoo’s Bruce Dougan is expected to release recommendations in March.
