The Sea Dogs and Head Coach Ross Yates have announced a mutual decision to part ways. Yates joined the Sea Dogs as an assistant coach in the summer of 2012 and was promoted to head coach and co-general manager in October 2013. He gave up the managerial duties following the 2013-14 season. Sea Dogs President Wayne Long says the team will begin looking for a new head coach immediately.
Moncton taxpayers will have to pay 125 thousand dollars to the Moncton Wildcats to play game 5 of their ‘Q” League series with Halifax at the Aitken Centre in Fredericton because of a scheduling conflict at the Moncton Coliseum.
In the Majors, the Red Sox scored three runs in the 7th inning without getting a base hit to edge Washington 8-7 and improve to 6 and 2….Miguel Gonzalez struck out 10 as Baltimore got by the Yankees 4-3……The Blue Jays lost to Tampa Bay 4-3…..The Rays have now won 4 in a row. In the late game out west, the Dodgers scored two in the bottom of the 9th on a single by Howie Kendrick for a 5-4 win over Seattle.
In the NBA, the Boston Celtics make the playoffs after sinking the winning basket with under a second left to defeat the Raptors 95-93…….The Miami Heat, without LeBron James this season, are out of the playoffs as Indiana wins over Washington in double overtime 99-95.
Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty has been cleared for contact but head coach Michel Therrien says he would be surprised if Pacioretty plays tonight in the opening playoff game against the Ottawa Senators.
