One man is in jail facing a weapons charge and another man suffered a cut to his hand from a machete following a fight on Princess Street. City Police tell us a man asked another man to buy him a pack of smokes but thinking that could be illegal, came out of the store instead with some candy and his change. The man who made the request wasn’t happy about that and pulled out a machete from a gym bag. The victim, who had bought the candy instead of the cigarettes, sustained the cut to his hand, was taken to hospital, treated and released.
Police also investigating a child being struck by a car on Broad Street. No word on his condition.
The fire department acted quickly to extinguish a kitchen fire at 63 Beaverbrook Avenue.
