The Regional Hospital Foundation has received what is believed to be the largest private donation for mental health ever in the the province from the Pannell Family Foundation.
Skate to Care at the Q-Plex raised more than 73 thousand dollars for MindCare. If you add the private donation, the Regional Hospital Foundation now has 357 thousand dollars to spend on mental health care.
Jeff McAloon of the Regional Hospital Foundation says some of that money will be used to upgade the skills of the people who work in mental health from Sussex to St. Stephen.
McAloon concedes there is still a gap between the demand for mental health services and the ability to delivery the care that’s needed but he believes the stigma surrounding mental health is diminishing.
