Several programmes in the Saint John region from Sussex to St. Stephen that deal with mental health issues will receive much needed funding.
The Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation is able to distribute 357 thousand dollars from Skate To Care and a big private donation from the Pannell Family Foundation.
The Chief of Staff at the Regional Hospital Dr. John Dornan says he has seen a big change for the better when it comes to attitudes over the years. He also points out, unlike with other medical afflictions, treating patients with mental health issues is usually a long term proposition, lasting many years in some cases.
Dr. Dornan says there are more resources available to deal with that need but there is still a gap when it comes to helping everyone who needs support.
