Canada will send a disaster assistance unit in the aftermath of a massive earthquake near Kathmandu, Nepal.
The government stated on Twitter it will also provide $5 million in aid and supplies.
The earthquake registered between 7.8 and 7.9 – then unleashed a series of power aftershocks.
CNN is reporting the death toll has risen above 2,500 people while its believed more than 5,000 are injured.
It’s still too early to determine if any Canadians were hurt or killed.
