Children aren’t the only ones having trouble understanding math and reading.
Many parents are finding it challenging to help their kids work through their homework.
Janet Lee of a national math and reading program Kumon Canada says it’s vitally important to begin helping your kids early so you can learn together.
“You really wanna be able to make sure that at the very beginning they start off with a really good foundation,” says Lee.
She adds math is a particularly difficult subject for many parents to understand.
“There’s different ways of explaining it, different approaches to teaching it and it’s hard for parents to get a grip on it,” says Lee. “Plus also, they’re very busy nowadays.”
A recent survey indicates difficulties with school work not only affect parents but are also detrimental to children’s confidence and learning abilities.
