A woman making it out of a West side apartment unhurt after a kitchen fire broke out and the home starting filling with smoke.
Acting Platoon Chief Kevin Comeau of Saint John Fire tells us crews quickly knocked down the blaze at 148 Duke Street West which is a four-unit apartment building.
The unit where the fire started has major smoke and water damage and the woman living there is temporarily displaced. The other three apartments, meantime, have slight smoke damage.
As for the cause, Comeau says it’s believed that it was because of cooking however it’s still going to be investigated.
There were no injuries.
