The people who live on Darlings Island held a meeting to decide whether they wanted to pay for a private boat shuttle if the road becomes impassable because of flooding.
The majority of those who showed up voted no, feeling the provincial government would expect them to continue picking up the 1 thousand dollar a day tab for the shuttle in the future.
There is a petition making the rounds calling on the province to raise the level of Darlings Island Road. The cost of that is estimated to be as high as half a million dollars.
