The Saint John SPCA needs help finding out how a steel-jawed hunting trap made its way into the Market Place West area, trapping a small calico Cat.
The Cat was found by a local resident when she heard it meowing pitifully.
She made the horrific discovery when she found the cat tangled in a fence with the trap on its foot.
The Cat is currently under the care of Kannon Animal Hospital.
Police will conduct an investigation and residents are cautioned to be on the look out for other traps.
Once the little calico named “Sophie” has made a full recovery, she will be available for adoption at the shelter.
There was no microchip found which would indicate her owner.
