The catchement area around the Charlotte County courthouse in St. Stephen includes about 26,000 people with about 1 per cent actually using it.
Folks in this area and in Sussex and Grand Manan are unhappy with news that these courthouses are closing.
Liberal MLA Rick Doucet says to find savings within the system cutting down on the numbers that are going to court there will be dispending of some of the court services.
Doucet says family court and trial division are still in Saint John adding this is something that has been discussed for some time.
He cites the province’s financial struggles and that tough decisions have to be made.
