Ceremonies are being held across the Maritimes today to remember those who fought in the Battle of Atlantic.
The military campaign was part of World War II from 1939-1945.
Canada was a major participant – with thousands of Royal Canadian Navy members involved.
The victory by the Allies over Germany allowed supply routes between North America and Britain to stay open.
However, over 4,000 Canadian lives were claimed.
Battle of the Atlantic ceremonies are held on the first Sunday of May every year.
