A tribute to the three fallen officers in the Hildegard neighbourhood is coming together very nicely.
Residents are committing their time on May 23rd for the beautification project.
Dr. Jeff Mowat says there are 125 trees being planted on Hildegaard Drive.
He says what the neighbourhood decided to do is just to have a subtle homage to the three fallen officers by planting flowering trees in rows of three.
Mowat says they didn’t want a memorial. RCMP are already working on one that will be put in Riverfront Park. He says the neighbourhood just wanted to do something positive.
$35, 000 has been raised through donations so far for the beautification project, that will help to pay for the trees.
