Saint John is without a police chief for the time being now that Bill Reid has retired but the search for a replacement has moved into the interview stage.
That’s according to chair of the Police Commission Nicole Paquet who says they’re moving along and they should be done their part of the process at the end of May.
Paquet says they’re looking for someone who has experience working in a similarly-sized organization, can manage good relationships with the board and council, and can really look at dealing with the budgetary constraints that every force across the country is having to face and providing adequate and efficient service moving forward.
Reid spent the last seven years as the police chief. He was with the SJPD for 37 years.
