The debate continues over whether or not there is a need for more childcare spaces in the province.
The provincial government announced in April, plans to open up even more spaces but many Daycare Owners says they aren’t needed.
VP of Business Operations for Wee College James Arsenault says parents deserve to have some choice.
“There has always been, and there will always be a need for the highest quality of service for children and families, that’s never changed,” says Arsenault.
Arsenault says it is a very complicated process and there needs to be more collaboration between the government, members of the daycare sector and families.
The provincial government announced in their budget in April that they had allocated funding to create more daycare spaces.
But many Daycare Owners say new spaces aren’t needed because a lot of the daycares aren’t full.
