The family of Sabrina Patterson continues to keep her memory alive by offering help to others.
Patterson was the victim of domestic violence in 2010.
The man who killed her, an ex-boyfriend, received a life sentence for first degree murder.
In 2011, her family began holding the Sabrina Patterson Memorial Marathon in her memory.
Sabrina’s sister Denise Murphy says the money raised goes to several great causes.
“Two $1,000 bursaries for Tantramar High students. We do a $500 Christmas sponsorship of a less fortunate child. We have $500 that we give to a local sporting organization.”
The remainder is split between a trust fund for Sabrina’s two children and the Beausejour Family Crisis Resource Centre.
This year’s event is being held on Saturday, May 23 at the Tantramar Civic Centre from 8am until 4pm.
The goal is to raise $30,000 this year.
